Collector sets up display for residents of Country Meadows - then holds class.

When the school bell rang, they practiced their penmanship, learned geography, went to recess and drank from the water crock.

They ate peanut-butter-and-jelly sandwiches and apples from their lunch pails.

One student even had to spend time on the dunce stool.

It was back-to-school Monday for about 25 residents of the assisted-living area of Country Meadows of Lancaster.

They were treated to a one-room-school experience, which about half originally had during their youths.
