In testimony prepared for a congressional subcommittee studying new safety legislation, the Association of American Railroads quotes Department of Labor data showing that "railroads today have lower employee injury rates than other modes of transportation and most other major industry groups, including agriculture, construction, manufacturing, and private industry as a whole."
