Q. I have read about "night sky cooling" that is supposed to keep a house comfortable in hot weather. Do you know anything about it? A. This is one of the passive techniques for cooling a house in a hot climate. Passive strategies use features of the home and its design rather than mechanical equipment for cooling and heating. In this case, the roof structure is covered with heavy water- filled plastic pools.
