Prime Minister Chatichai Choonhavan officially took over the leadership of Thailand today, marking an important step in this country's move toward democracy. The new prime minister and his 44-member Cabinet, who were sworn in at a ceremony with King Bumibol Adulyadej late yesterday, took over from Prem Tinsulanond, a retired Army general who had served as an appointed government leader for the past eight years.
