My enthusiasm level was less than 100% when I was asked to review this two-volume set of John Cage's music for piano. How could such a publication be of interest to performers, much less teachers? After all, Cage was one of those "weird" composers, right? And his piano repertoire is not exactly in the "Top 40" of concert repertoire.... I even set the material aside without opening it when I received copie...
