TDKDVWW-OPDDC, 149 mins., subtitled Diahgues des Carmélites returned to La Scala, the scene of its world premiere, for this 2004 production by gifted director Robert Carsen. This time around, it was sung in French - bad French, for the most part - by an international cast almost completely lacking in native Francophone singers. The production nonetheless shows Carsen at his best, except for a botched final scene. ...
