The PBS documentary "A Paralyzing Fear: The Story of Polio in America" {"A Poignant Portrait of Polio," Style, Oct. 5} painted an evocative portrait of the terror Americans felt about polio before the development of the Salk vaccine. As one who lives with the results of polio, I was pleased to see this almost-forgotten disease addressed and the role vaccines play in preventing this illness explained.
