Polio vaccine, cancer link remains unclear

The polio vaccine used in the United States from 1955 to 1963 has long been known to have been contaminated with a cancer-causing monkey virus. But even after years of study, scientists don't know whether the vaccine is linked to any cancers in people.
Still, if the vaccine does contribute to cancer, it is highly unlikely to cause more than a slight increase in the risk for certain rare types, scientists say.
