BILL BELICHICK'S initial apology directed primarily to his own players, staff, and ownership only reinforces the impression that his moral compass is broken ("A sorry state," Sports, Sept. 13). First and foremost, the New England Patriots' coach owes an apology to football fans everywhere who pay for this sport and are damaged by his actions. Second, he owes an apology to the New York Jets' players, coaches, and fans for the videotaping that took place during last Sunday's game. If Belichick owes an apology to his own staff, players, and boss, he can apologize to them personally and in private...
