The ISS Will Open a New Era in Space.
There is a theory, held by many scientists, that the first chemical building blocks of life did not originate on Earth: They came from space, deposited by meteorites billions of years ago. Once on Earth, those chemicals found the right conditions to generate what we call organic life.
If that theory were to prove true, it might explain humanity's deep-seated desire to venture into space, to explore the universe, to colonize the stars, and to build cities in space--gleaming structures circling in the starry blackness.
