IT'S HARD TO PICTURE Larry Lindstrom in the vanguard of a church schism. There's no firebrand in the soft Texas accent, no aggression in the small-town parson who cross-stitches gifts for parishioners, no pugnacity as he visits with shut-ins or gives a tour of the village he's come to love.
But last July, when Lindstrom invited me to shadow him through a day as pastor of St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Farmersville, he said a pending pact between the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America and the Episcopal Church was destined to lead to conflict.
