Paroxetine is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) used extensively in major depressive disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, and generalized anxiety disorder. In recent years, SSRIs have become the preferred agents in depression due to their relative safety and better tolerability.
