Garden ideas sprouting from catalogs this time of year
January is a good time to curl up with a stack of garden catalogs and fantasize about next summer's garden.
If you don't have a stack of catalogs, you can order them, usually free of charge, by writing or calling the companies or visiting their Web sites.
Even if you don't plan on ordering plants and seeds by mail, catalogs are a helpful planning tool, introducing a wide variety of plants and gardening supplies, including the newest items on the market. Many catalogs also include helpful tips and horticultural information.
