BOSTON RECENTLY lost one of its last giants ("P&G to buy Gillette for $55b," Page 1, Jan. 28). Gillette, whose name is on the home of our Patriots, is one of the country's best-known companies. With products sold in over 200 countries this Boston home grown company has helped put the city on the global map. What's happened? First John Hancock was bought by a Canadian company. Then Fleet, and now Gillette, were bought by American mega- companies. As companies take over our businesses, we begin to lose jobs. Bank of America moved powerful business leaders out of Massachusetts. We have to ask if ...
