THE CARGO ship Ocean Voyager was anchored off Tripoli in 1943, after the capture and clearance of the port, to discharge stores for the Eighth Army in its pursuit of final victory in North Africa.

A surprise attack on 19 March by German bombers caught her with three bombs. Her Master was killed. His ship was on fire in several places and many of her crew were dead or wounded.
