WHEN it comes to wooing the lady of their dreams, most men would try to tempt her with chocolates and champagne, perfume and jewellery, or perhaps even a weekend in Paris.
But at 71, John Wimpenny proffered what might be termed more mature tokens of his love.
Besotted by a neighbour 30 years his junior, the pensioner tried to stoke the flames of passion with lime pickle, a Barry White tape - and half his winter fuel allowance.
He told 41-year-old Jane Powrie he could make this latter gift because he 'never felt cold' when she was around.
