Why do they keep trying? You have to assume it's arrogance, that each set of moviemakers thinks it can somehow succeed where others have failed to make a good movie of "The Great Gatsby." A fourth attempt, starring Mira Sorvino as Daisy and Toby Stephens as Gatsby, appears on A&E tomorrow night at 8, and one can only hope it is the last. Let's just get simple about it and suggest that it is impossible to make a satisfying film out of a book that so many people have had such a personal relationship with. It's like someone telling you what you think; even if the person is right, you're affronted...
