It was Footloose, the 1984 American musical about a young dancer fighting the local minister's rock'n'roll ban, that made Kevin Bacon, until then an actor who took himself very seriously indeed, an instant heart-throb. "I was 26 and suddenly I was a pop star," Bacon recalls. "That's exactly what I wanted as a kid. But by then, that was so not what I wanted."
