The overall growth for nitrile rubber (NBR) is expected to be modest. The consumption of NBR latex has diminished because of the demand for other latex products in non-woven fabrics. Demand for the product is expected to be flat in North America. IISRP predicts that global demand for the product will increase from 344,000 metric tons in 1996 to 387,000 tons in the year 2000. Nitrile rubber can be process into products such as O-rings and seals, adhesives and sealants, and belting and cable.
