Oh Lordy. If this is Turkey's answer to Riverdance, God alone knows what the question can have been. Ney, a 44-strong company from Istanbul which apparently took last year's Eurovision Song Contest by storm, opened at the Peacock Theatre on Wednesday with Flames of Passion, a rip-roaring succession of highly-coloured numbers that were nattily dressed, zestfully performed, excitably received and I couldn't wait for it to end.

The rhythmic hand-clapping began almost as soon as the curtain came up. It was the sort of thing you might endure quite happily at the poolside barbecue of a luxury hotel...
