N Brown, famous for its catalogues for larger ladies, is moving into television. It is launching a home shopping channel on digital TV, as part of a joint venture with Northern & Shell (owners of the Express newspapers and various adult entertainment TV channels). The venture, which will start broadcasting later this year, will be initially loss-making. Chief executive Alan White says that N Brown's share of losses will be GBP2m this year, but break-even by next.
