Britons' expanding waistlines are good news for N Brown, the home-shopping business that caters for larger individuals' clothing needs. In fact, like-for-like sales grew an appetising 10.2 per cent in the six weeks to 7 October.
However, tougher sales comparisons from last year are expected to rein in the underlying performance as the second half progresses. That said, the group should benefit from its move into more affluent parts of the market, aided by the GBP9.2m acquisition of Gray & Osbourn in June. And management also expects to benefit from marketing initiatives, lower mailing costs...
