PARENTS have grown so used to the image of obese children that they are no longer able to tell if their own sons and daughters are overweight, a study has revealed.
It found 40 per cent of parents were not concerned about their child's weight - even though he or she was obese.
They also wrongly classified a third of obese girls and half of obese boys as 'about right' in the study of 277 schoolchildren.
This was despite alarming evidence that shows obesity in children can lead to illnesses including diabetes, heart disease and cancer later in life.
