CRICKET'S rebirth as a sport of the masses was confirmed yesterday by the tide of humanity trudging away from Old Trafford before a ball had been bowled.
They had come in their thousands in the hope of seeing something special with England's spirited Ashes challenge prompting mayhem in Manchester.
