Even before pitching his first game Saturday night for the Expos, Ron Darling was a hit in Montreal once it was learned that Darling spent summers from the ages of 6-11 with his father's adoptive parents in the north end of Montreal. Their name was LeBel. One French newspaper has referred to the former Met as Ronald Darling-LeBel.
