"The Mists of Avalon" holds the promise of epic adventure. A feminist retelling of King Arthur's court and the legend of Camelot, Marion Zimmer Bradley's 1982 novel is a grand fable of mysticism and magic where the soldiers of the spiritual and physical worlds clash in a brutal battle to the death.

Unfortunately, TNT's adaptation (airing tonight and tomorrow at 8) cannot rise above the murky, computer-generated mists of its title.
