Teaching a course on English poet John Milton is not an easy task but it has its virtues. There are a number of reasons not to teach the course. The first is his personality which does not suit modern taste. Second, his poem Paradise Lost deals about religion which is not high up on academe's list. Milton's writing style is also hard to understand. Yet, by teaching Milton, students learn lessons in charity, self-confidence and humility. Miltoo may seem to have been a loser to some, but his commitment to what he believed and giving it his best make teaching him worthwhile.
