Claire McCaskill wants the government's inspectors general on her team.
Missouri's freshman U.S. senator on Thursday introduced the Improving Government Accountability Act, a measure aimed at providing federal agency inspectors with greater independence in their oversight work.
"They're in a position to see the nonsense that's going on," the Democratic lawmaker said. "They are my best co-conspirators in terms of trying to get at bad things going on in government when it comes to taxpayer money.
