An accountant doing voluntary work in Bhutan discusses her role as a finance officer. She is developing procedures for taxation policies. The current policy is complex and is not comprehensive. Staff do not really understand accounting methods so she has produced a tax manual. A computerised tax-administration system is being installed and this will allow more data to be accessed. She will develop standard reporting procedures before she leaves.
