Richard Miller was asleep with his wife in the couple's Manheim Township home Wednesday night when he heard the door bell.

"It was late," the 70-year-old Miller recalled, "so, I thought, oh no, what happened to my sons?' "

His sons were fine, but bad news was waiting at the Millers' front door in the 2700 block of Brookfield Road.

It was a young man who tried to lure Mr. Miller outside. During his attempt, an armed man jumped out from a bush near the door and forced his way into the home.
