Lush ballads, blazing technique make pianist Green a winner

A good day for Milwaukee jazz ended in countless crescendos. On the Saturday when jazz returned to radio station WYMS-FM, pianist Benny Green impressively wound up this year's Hal Leonard jazz series.
It was the first concert under Michael Cudahy's Pabst Theater ownership and the philanthropist, a big jazz booster, introduced Green as a "dear friend."
Then Cudahy told 1,100 customers that "they want me to fix WYMS and . . . I might try."
