NEW DELHI Can Bollywood cope with a sudden change from its boy-meets-girl-amid-color-song-and-dance formula? The answer is keeping everyone--especially audiences--in suspense.
After all but ignoring the suspense and thriller genres for some time, Indian helmers are suddenly scrambling to churn out production after suspense-filled production--thanks to the success of Vikram Bhatt's spooky whodunnit, "Raaz" (Secret).
"Raaz" was made last year with a moderate budget of approximately 40 million rupees ($833,000), but went on to earn $4.2 million--one of only a handful of hits last year.
