LONDON is to have its fourth telephone number shake-up in 14 years.
Most new London eight- digit numbers will begin with the figure 3 rather than the 7 and 8 currently in use.
From June, telecom firms will be issued with London numbers starting 020 followed by eight digits beginning with 3, 7 or 8.
Ofcom said the 0203 code - which was the dialling code for Coventry until 1995 - would increase the list of number combinations for the capital from 20million to 30million.
Given that 400,000 new numbers are issued in London every year, available combinations will run out...
