Uniform community for vets paved way for middle class

Levittown, Pa. -- Two weeks before Christmas in 1951, a New York builder invited prospective buyers to view new model homes amid the spinach and corn fields of rural Bucks County, Pa. More than 30,000 people turned out, and 200 bought houses that weekend.
