Sir: Bob Crew's "What a Dickens of a drama" (1 November) about the BBC's forthcoming adaptation of Martin Chuzzlewit, which I scripted, contains a number of errors, unfounded speculations and debatable assertions. The argument about how the last episode should end was conducted with the production team, not between "BBC executives". The director, Pedr James, has not "superimposed" his own ending on mine: he has chosen to cut the last minute or two of the script as filmed.
