The nursing profession requires all nurses to learn about new technologies and procedures. It also requires them to empower patients and their families to participate in their health care. Patients should be encouraged to ask questions and make informed decisions. Similarly, organizations should encourage nurses to think creatively and offer their opinions on what is best for their patients.

In keeping with my overall theme, "Guiding Today's Nurse Into Tomorrow's World: Preparing for the Journey," I would like to discuss the second guiding thought, "Learn to Learn as an Organization."
