By 1:30 p.m. yesterday, when a crane still hadn't removed the leaning steeple of historic First Parish Church in Dorchester, Sadie Swift tugged at her father's hand.
"She says, `Let's get this show on the road!` " chuckled Susan Brackett, who has been a member of Boston's oldest congregation for more than a decade. "How much can you ask of a 3-year-old?"
Indeed, people from the neighborhood gathered on Meeting House Hill thoughout the afternoon, gazing skyward until shortly after 2 p.m., when the crane gingerly lowered the steeple to the ground.
