The growlers are gone from Lake Louie Brewery, and the absence has nothing to do with owners Tom and DeAnn Porter's three dogs.
Growlers, in brewing parlance, are half-gallon refillable jugs that Lake Louie has been carting to and from retail outlets around southern Wisconsin for six years. With 40,000 growlers behind it, the brewery has moved to non-returnable glass six-packs that don't have to be cleaned, sterilized and refilled.
