There are probably thousands of people around the country who do not realise that they might well be entitled to cashing in on almost L10m of unclaimed cash.
The Court Funds Office, which comes under the Lord Chancellor's Office, is responsible for all monies that are paid into court during cases. And when the National Audit Office (NAO) asked the Court Funds Office to provide a breakdown of some L33m of unclaimed funds which it holds, it was discovered that the legal owners of L9.8m cannot be identified.
