I have no hesitation in declaring my opinion that Kings Row is Korngold's film score masterpiece and, further, that it is one of my favourite 10 best-ever scores. Film music enthusiasts may remember RCA's 1970s "Classic Film Scores" series featuring the National Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Charles Gerhardt. Gerhardt chose to devote, to the best of my memory, only one album to one score and that was Korngold's Kings Row, recorded in 1...
