Ben Conard takes a little more time picking out his favorite jeans, polo T-shirt and loafers than his grandfather did 50 years ago.
From day-to-day wear to work attire, men are starting to spend more money on their personal appearances.
Men are spending about 10 percent more on apparel than they did two years ago, according to data from NPD Group Inc., a consumer and retail information company.
"I'd like to say I don't care what I look like, but that's not true," said Mr. Conard, 20. "It's all about presentation. We live in a world now that is solely based on looks."
