Firm expects to avert shortage feared from Ace bankruptcy

The fate of the nation's ice-cream cone supply now rests in the pudgy little hands of the elves.
Keebler Co., the $2.6 billion Illinois firm that brands itself as the elfin-run cookie and cracker maker, has won the right to buy the cone-manufacturing assets of bankrupt, Green Bay-based Ace Baking.
And more to the point, Keebler said Wednesday it believes it can avert the feared summer ice-cream cone shortage.
