Joseph Francis Mahon opened Mahon's Market in Attleboro when he was 19. During the next 48 years, he became more than the neighborhood grocer. Many customers considered him family. "On his way home from work, he would deliver groceries," said his daughter, Roberta J. Roy of Rehoboth. "He also ran credits for a lot of people, and he was never too concerned about the money. He was helping people out, and that's what he wanted to do." Mr. Mahon, who relatives said never stopped helping others, died Friday at Sturdy Memorial Hospital after suffering a heart attack.
