Jane Eaglen made her American debut singing with the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra in the Hatch Shell. It was July 3, 1992, and guest conductor John Mauceri said Eaglen would sing the hardest two-and-a-half minutes' worth of music ever composed for the human voice, Bruennhilde's Battle Cry from Wagner's "Die Walkuere," and she knocked out the trills, octave leaps and repeated high C's as if they were easy.
