PORTSMOUTH -- James W. Cox Sr., 79, of the 200 block of Truxton Ave., died May 7, 2002, in River Pointe Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center, Virginia Beach. Born in Grifton, N.C., Mr. Cox was the widower of Fannie B. Cox. He retired as a heating plant foreman from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard after 38 years and was an insurance agent for Haynes Insurance Agency for 10 years. He was a member of First Lutheran Church, Portsmouth, and the church council, and served as superintendent of the Vacation Bible School, church treasurer and Sunday school teacher.
