James Prescot Joule -- the first Green?
The prospect of waiting for their dotage to organise a birthday bicentennial celebration was obviously too much for the Institute of Physics and the Institution of Chemical Engineers. Instead they opted for 1989, 100 years after the death of James Prescot Joule. This `ecumenical' celebration took place in July in Manchester, Joule's lifelong home.
