James M. Cain, 81, director of reservations for Pan American World Airways, died of septic shock Feb. 6 at Inova Fairfax Hospital. Mr. Cain retired from Pan Am in 1988 after working there for 41 years. He lived in Annandale. He was born in Springdale, Pa., and raised in New York and Ohio. He enlisted in the Army during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart after being wounded during the Normandy invasion.
