OCTOGENARIAN investor Jack Petchey has always been a thorn in WarnerEstates' side. The veteran cockney property dealer and former car trader hasbeen on the property investment and asset management group's shareholderregister for years and has made a complete nuisance of himself.

Back in October 2001 he had a tender offer for 13.3pc of the company at 31712pa share, which would have taken his stake to a threatening 29.9pc, stronglyrejected by the board.

He took this on the chin and has just sat there with a smaller stake, no doubtwaiting to have another go.
