FORMER ARKANSAS COACH Nolan Richardson was interrupted mid-sentence as cheers broke out around him. Richardson glanced across the packed ballroom at the projection screen playing highlights of the 1994 NCAA Championship game and immediately knew what prompted the cheers.
"He always makes that shot," Richardson said, referring to Scotty Thurman's clutch 3-pointer in the final minute of the NCAA title game against Duke. Arkansas took the lead on Thurman's shot and held on for arguably the greatest victory in the history of athletics in this state.
