For most Americans, Sept. 11 brought not just visceral shock but a sharp disconnect between then and now. Almost immediately we heard: Life will never be the same. Quantifying that mood, a recent Ipsos- Reid poll showed that 74% of Americans think Sept. 11 will "fundamentally change things forever."
